Marty Mjelleli reacts to the first period goal by Gary Houseman
"It was just like the first time I walked into the arena at St. Cloud State.  I left high school early, drove up alone and had no idea where I was going. I walked into the Zamboni gate. The whole arena was shut off except one light on the ST-C symbol at center ice. I walked out there alone , and just got the feeling this is home."

“The atmosphere here is great. I’ve had friends playing on other teams who have told me that this is their favorite place to come play just because of our student section and how crazy they are. In the big games, you can’t even hear yourself think. It’s an unbelievable place to play and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

“Then you see the atmosphere at the games, and it just blows you away. People here are just dying for a championship. They’re behind the team in every way, and it’s really a leg up for recruiting. You go out there and see a packed house every night and a rowdy student section, and for me it was a no-brainer to choose St. Cloud.”

" Once I heard St. Cloud State had interest I wanted to be here. I heard a lot about it growing up and it's just a great place to play. I can't imagine too many schools would be able to beat it."

"It was an unbeleivable experience.  People in Minnesota love their hockey and obviously they are great people too.  (St. Cloud State University) was just a great four years.  I got a degree there and it was an unbelievable place to play college hockey. A great atmosphere every night."

Konrad Reeder - St. Cloud State Husky 2002-2006
Colorado Eagles -CHL
"For myself, the college route was the better route to develop my overall game and also get stronger.  (St. Cloud State University) just seemed like the right fit  for me with the conditioing program and an Olympic sheet of ice to build my skating skills.  But, the environment was also a huge part. I liked that small town feel and they had that at St. Cloud. Hockey is everything there and the fans were so passionate."

CIC MEMBER AMY LEE - ONE TOUGH HUSKY HOCKEY FAN!
Saturday night.  SCSU men’s hockey playoff game number 2.  We need the win since we lost on Friday night.  Third period.  We’re down 0-2.  There’s a slap shot from across the ice and (the puck) sails over the glass and BAM!  Hits me right above the right eyebrow and *&#%$ did that hurt!!!
It immediately swells up and I can’t see out of that eye.  The paramedics come and then we scored.  I stood up and cheered and twenty seconds later we score again, so I’m up cheering again, while all this time the staff and paramedic is waiting for information so they can fill out their reports.  They want me to go to the ER and I say, nope, not until after the game is over.  So I had to sign off that I was refusing medical treatment.

I did get questioned in the ER by my doc because he didn’t really believe my story and had to ask me if I felt safe at home.  I didn’t even think about that…11:30 Saturday night with a black eye.  However, I did have my jersey on, my ticket stub in my purse, and the hockey puck I got hit with.  I had to tell him that I had to fill out reports at SCSU if he wanted he could call them.  But he believed my story then.
I feel ok but my eye hurts and I was informed it will hurt for quite some time and it will be black and blue for a couple of weeks.  They said I will feel tired, have headaches, and have trouble concentrating for awhile.  So being the true fan that I am, I went again on Sunday night, sat in my same seat, and cheered the team on to another victory.  I have to admit, I was a little gun shy when the puck would come down my way.  But I was willing to take another one for the team if I had to, if that helped them win.  Now on to the Final Five at the Xcel this weekend. GO HUSKIES!!

The Huskies end up winning 3-2.  I go to the ER and find out I have a concussion, have a CT scan to see if I have a fracture of my orbital bone, but that was all clear.  My eye is ok and I shouldn’t have any problems with anything in the future.
